Liposuction is a technique which consists on the removal of fat tissue without skin resection though thin cannulas that are introduced by very small incisions.
This technique allows modelling the body but is not effective to lose weight radically. With the liposculpture or liposuction we get to remove precisely the fat form where we want, achieving excellent esthetical results.

This surgery is performed in an operating room and it usually lasts between 1 and 2 hpurs, depending on the zone which will be vacuumed.
Through a small incision of 3-4mm, thin cannulas are introduced to remove the fat excess superficially connected with a vacuum. This action is performed keeping in mind some areas of the body that are key to achieve a harmonic remodelling of the curves.
The intervention is performed under general, local anaesthesia or epidural depending on the extension of the area which will be treated or the amount of fat to vacuum.
After surgery tissues get swollen, taking 3-4 weeks to reduce its volume, so the results can be considered definitive until 3 months after surgery. It will be placed a bandage, panties or elastic bandage to the treated zone to control the swelling and bleeding, and to help the skin adapt to the new outline. Is usually necessary to wear it for 2 or 3 weeks and then just on daytime for a few weeks more, depending on your plastic surgeon’s instructions. It also can be administered antibiotics to prevent infection.
Healing is a gradual process. Your plastic surgeon will indicate to start walking as soon as possible (to prevent venous thrombus creation at legs) but to not do intense activities for 2-4 weeks. Stitches will be removed between 5 to 10 days after, and will be able to star working again in 5-3 days, or at most, after 2 weeks since the intervention, depending on the extension of the liposuction and on the recommendations of your surgeon. The inflammation and bruises will disappear on the first or second month after liposuction, however a minimal swelling may remain for 6 months or more.
The advantages of this technique are the presence of minimum scars, rare pain, not needed extended immobilisations, possibilities to treat in just one intervention several zones of the body, restart of usual activities in 4-5 days and possibilities to associate to other interventions such as reduction of mammary volume or dermolipectomy. Among the techniques used nowadays to reduction of located adiposity, the superficial liposculpture allows getting a greater volumetric reduction and sculpture of the body shape more detailed, being able not to just reduced the fat volume, but also to upgrade the curves and volumes to create a new outline.
