We call cataracts to the opacification of the crystalline, which is the natural lens of the eye that allows us to focus correctly on objects. This opacity diminishes transparency and elasticity to the crystalline, which leads to a progressive loss of vision. Cataracts are produced by natural causes inherent in aging. But is well known that many external factors can influence its appearance: photosolar – without the correct protection -, medical, traumatic or congenital.

 Only surgery can solve cataracts, and this surgery has increasingly improved, performing minimally invasive interventions that allows the patient go home at the end of the intervention, that way they can restore their normal life in a couple of hours thanks to the intraocular lenses which are implanted to solve the lose of sight caused by cataracts.

This type of surgery is used to correct the vision of both for the patients with myopia and for those suffering from astigmatism. The external surface of the cornea (the epithelium) is folded backwards and the cornea is formed again by removing tissue with an excimer laser. Then, the external surface is folded back into place and attaches to the eye through natural suction. Surgery is a popular procedure as it has high success rates with lots of patients no longer having to wear glasses or lenses anymore after.

This is an outpatient surgery, so when it’s finished, you can go to your hotel or apartment to rest. You can take a fly back home by two or three days after.
